The PTC Powerhouse Intensive Program is designed to harness the critical developmental window within the first five years of life, when neuroplasticity is at its peak. Research shows that higher-frequency, targeted therapy during this period can strengthen neural connections and accelerate the acquisition of essential motor, communication, and functional skills.
Our intensive model provides a concentrated schedule of therapy—five days per week for three weeks, with 1–2.5 hours per day—customized to each child’s specific needs and developmental goals.
Each intensive is individually planned and delivered by our team of pediatric therapy experts. Depending on your child’s needs, a Powerhouse Intensive may include any combination of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy.
We focus on achieving meaningful, measurable milestones by increasing therapeutic frequency, incorporating multiple evidence-based interventions, and providing consistent repetition of motor and communication tasks.
Children who benefit from PTC Powerhouse Intensives include those with:
If your child needs targeted support to build strength, improve motor control, increase functional skills, or progress toward key milestones, an intensive program may be appropriate.
Your child’s customized intensive program may include a combination of the following evidence-based approaches:
Task-specific electrical stimulation used to improve muscle strength and motor control.
Used to support improved trunk activation, postural control, and neuromodulation.
Level A–C interventions for postural strengthening and motor milestone development.
Used to promote normalized muscle tone and improve joint mobility.
Encourages improved functional use of a hemiplegic upper extremity.
Supports the development of coordinated motor patterns.
Tactile–kinesthetic input used to support improved speech motor planning, oral motor control, and coordinated speech production.
Addresses oral motor skills, swallowing, and advancing safe, functional feeding.
Provides controlled resistance, support, and alignment for strengthening, postural control, and functional movement practice.
Hands-on facilitation approach used to improve movement patterns, postural control, and functional mobility.
Supports gait training by reducing body weight load, improving step symmetry, endurance, and motor learning.
Supports communication using tools and methods beyond spoken speech.
Dynamic Flex Casting
A flexible casting approach that safely improves alignment, increases mobility, and optimizes functional gains during intensives.
Before your child’s intensive begins, our Patient Care Coordination team will verify insurance benefits, confirm coverage, and outline any expected out-of-pocket costs. We ensure families have clear information up front so you can plan confidently.
Our team can help determine whether an intensive model is appropriate based on your child’s diagnosis, current abilities, and developmental goals.
